A top Democrat was arrested last week on major charges, but you won’t be hearing about it from the mainstream media.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Mark Wicklund, the Illinois candidate for the 13th District US House seat, was arrested last week after he crashed his vehicle while driving drunk and then assaulted a police officer. He has since been released on $10,000 bond and has continued his campaign.

Wicklund is reportedly facing DUI charges as well as a preliminary charge of aggravated battery against a police officer, with a special prosecutor having 30 days to determine whether to file a formal charge. On Thursday, the State’s Attorney Jay Scott filed a motion seeking the special prosecutor due to Wicklund’s former position on the county board, which he served on from 2010-2013.

The media is quick to report on the arrests of Republican political candidates like Greg Giantorte, who was hit with a misdemeanor charge after assaulting a reporter on Wednesday. However, the mainstream media has completely ignored Wicklund’s case despite the fact that he is facing far more serious charges than Giantorte.
