The Democrats are wishing they had never started these accusations regarding the Trump team and the Russians.
So far, all the trouble they have created has availed them nothing, and now the investigation might turn in the other direction.
After one of Obama’s employees accidentally let it slip that surveillance had indeed occurred, we wondered who’d be next to spill the beans. As it turns out, we didn’t have to wait long.
Though we cannot know the exact contents of the materials concerning intercepted communications (they’re classified), we can certainly find out who was involved, which will lead to the answers America deserves.
However, we are being asked to believe that any surveillance of Trump staff communications conducted during the transition period was “incidental” to routine gathering of intelligence on foreign officials. Right.
Should we also forget that the Obama administration tried to stop this from leaking out? If it was “incidental,” why would they be worried about that…?
Well, another of Obama’s cronies has just been unmasked. Via Bloomberg:
“White House lawyers last month learned that the former national security adviser Susan Rice requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.”
Here’s where things get more than just a little suspicious:
“The pattern of Rice’s requests was discovered in a National Security Council review of the government’s policy on ‘unmasking’ the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally.
One U.S. official familiar with the reports said they contained valuable political information on the Trump transition such as whom the Trump team was meeting, the views of Trump associates on foreign policy matters and plans for the incoming administration.”
Evidently, this is the “smoking gun” the NSA was talking about last week. And boy, is it SMOKING.
The Democrats treat us like fools.
Surveillance of foreign officials just happened to involve intercepts of Trump team members’ conversations which were “incidental” to normal government eavesdropping. Former national security advisor Rice requested the identities of these “incidental” parties.
And it turns out that the communications just happened to contain confidential information relating to the formation of policy by the incoming Trump administration.
We’re being asked to believe that all of this just “happened” as opposed to being a coordinated plan by the Obama administration to spy on the incoming Trump administration.
All that’s left to learn is with whom this confidential information was shared.
