After Hillary left her post as Secretary of State in 2013, she negotiated continuing access to confidential files for herself and six officials under the designation “research assistants,” stated a top senator who claims that Hillary was afterward described as “extremely careless” with top secret information.
The officials seemingly had access even after Hillary revealed she will run for President in April 2015, says Senator Chick Grassley, from Iowa. This access was apparently given to ease work for Hillary’s memoir, but Grassley said he was just able to confirm it after Obama left office.
“It is so unimaginatively offensive that Hillary Clinton or her staff would have any access to classified or top secret information.”

“I have repeatedly asked the State Department whether Secretary Clinton and her associates had their clearances suspended or revoked to which the Obama Administration refused to respond,” Grassley noted on a March 30 in a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
“Recently, the State Department informed the Committee that six additional Secretary Clinton staff at State were designated as her research assistants which allowed them to retain their clearances after leaving the Department,” he further said.
We are still awaiting a response from the Department of State about an inquiry from Fox News as to whether Hillary or her officials that included Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin, her former top aide, who then became the vice chair of her campaign, and Jake Sullivan, her senior policy aide, still have access granted to the confidential archives and systems.
Hillary was not available to give a comment on this.
Grassley, who leads the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Thursday initiated an inspection into the matter, quoting FBI director James Comey’s statement from July 5 when he stated the FBI concluded that Hillary and her staff were “extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.” He also argued that there exists “evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information…”
While the FBI was investigating Hillary’s handling of top secret files and her use of an illegal server, Director Comey admitted that there were seven email chains on Hillary’s server that were classified at the “Top Secret/Special Access Program level.” An additional batch of 2,000 emails on Hillary’s private email server were also revealed to have incorporated data that is now deemed confidential, but it wasn’t confidential when sent. Another 22 classified emails that were considered to be a danger to national security if were released.
